How to Get Involved as a High Schooler
Society of Women Engineers invites you to apply for Shadow a SWEester, a day-long program where high school seniors are paired with freshmen and sophomore students in the UA College of Engineering! We used to have a program called Suite with SWE which was very similar. You would attend class with your SWE host, explore campus, and get to know what the University of Arizona has to offer. You would also meet professors and faculty, allowing you to ask any questions you may still have about the UA and engineering. Shadow a SWEester was held on Monday, November 7th, from 8 am to 4 pm and was free to attend! If you were unable to attend this date, watch for the next Shadow a SWEester on March 6th, 2017!
"I went to Suite with SWE in March of my senior year of high school. This was the time that I was really trying to decide what school would be the best for me. Going to Suite with SWE really sold me on the University of Arizona because I was able to see what a typical day at this University was like, and I was able to see how involved I could be, being a woman in engineering. Staying over night in the dorms was extremely eye opening to what living in a dorm would be like, and was helpful in planning what all to bring when starting school at the U of A. All of the activities that were set up made me realize how involved the older girls that are in SWE are, and made me feel excited to become one of them and to call this place my home. I am so glad I did Suite with SWE because it is definitely the reason I am at U of A and am so involved in this amazing club."

"I attended Suite with SWE my senior year in high school and had a great experience. I met people I am still friends with today and was encouraged to join SWE after having so much fun. One of the girls I met as a senior was Sophie. When I started at the U of A Sophie remembered me and we instantly became friends. She has helped mentor me during my time at the U of A and without Suite with SWE I would never had made that connection. I highly encourage every high school girl to attend Suite with SWE if they get the chance."
